Rodents are carriers of various diseases that can be transmitted to humans. They can spread diseases through their droppings, urine, saliva, and parasites like fleas and ticks. Some common rodent-borne diseases include hantavirus, leptospirosis, salmonellosis, and rat-bite fever.

Property damage

Rodents have a natural instinct to gnaw on objects to keep their teeth trimmed and sharp. This behaviour can lead to significant property damage, including chewed electrical wires, insulation, wood, and plastic materials. Damaged electrical wiring can pose a severe fire hazard, and structural damage can weaken the integrity of buildings.

Contamination of food and water

Rodents can contaminate food storage areas, pantries, and kitchen surfaces with their droppings, urine, and hair. Consuming contaminated food or water can lead to food poisoning and various illnesses.

Allergies and respiratory issues

Rodent allergens, such as urine, dander, and saliva, can trigger allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. These allergens can also worsen asthma symptoms and cause respiratory issues, including coughing, wheezing, and difficulty breathing.

Psychological impact

Living with a rodent infestation can be emotionally distressing. Fear, anxiety, and stress can result from the constant presence of rodents, leading to sleep disturbances and a reduced quality of life.
